College Livin'

Brigham Young University is a great place to be. but it's HARD.
Everyone here was a straight-A student in high school. Everyone here is willing to work hard. Everyone here (or so it seems) is gorgeous. Everyone here is nice and seemingly perfect. Sometimes it's hard to remember that I fall under the BYU category now too. Is everyone really gorgeous and perfect? Of course not. Sometimes I feel like everyone really is like that and I'm the odd one out. Not particularly stunning, not terribly outgoing, on the thicker side, medium (at best) intelligence, and not even near attractive enough to be asked out on dates. But then I remember, I'M AWESOME TOO. I may not be skinny or cute or fashionable or hilarious or talkative or highly-intelligent, but I'm special and have something unique to offer the world. My family is what really keeps me going. When I'm with my cousins, I feel like a rock star. When I'm with my immediate family, I feel like a part of something: totally and completely. Even my roommates encourage me by laughing at my weird self. Moral of this blurb? I have worth. Particularly in the eyes of my Heavenly Father. Isn't that just the best?

So recently my family has had some crazy things going on! Eric came home on September 26, 2013 from his mission in St. Louis, Missouri. So that was awesome!! I loved seeing how excited all the cousins were to see him, and I just plain loved seeing him myself! He is now looking for a job and trying to adjust to being home. He is also waiting to hear back from BYU to see if he is admitted or not (he really hopes he is.)

The most recent family explosion was that Aleena finally had her baby! Jarom is the cutest father :) Poor Aleena got induced Sunday (October 6th) at 8:00. She progressed incredibly slowly and after a full 24-hours of labor, they finally decided to go ahead with a C-section. On October 7, 2013, I finally became an aunt! His name is Oliver Joseph Lance :) he was 9 lb 3 oz (no wonder he wouldn't come out!) and 20 inches long. He has loads of dark brown hair and is quite the tank. Needless to say, I'm already in love with him. He's probably the most precious baby I ever did see.

So ya, college life is great! so far, so good. it's a lot harder than high school, but if I discipline myself I think I'll be able to make it through alright. Now I just have to figure out what I want to do with my life! haha (i.e. what I should study, what I should pursue as a career, and whether or not I should go on a mission.)

I'm growing every day and hopefully I continue to become a better me!

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Wood.

So as I mentioned in my last post, my sister got MARRIED! Which is super cool. The newest edition to our family is Roland Wood. They met at BYU, I met him for the first time on Easter this year, and on July 23rd they were sealed together for time and all eternity :)

Their colors were mint and light pink, the bridesmaids had white shirts and shoes and matching pink skirts, the groomsmen had a pink or mint tie and gray slacks, Roland was in a gray suit, and Jenessa was in a GORGEOUS off-white, perfectly beaded, classy and modest gentle A-line dress. (so pretty ! )

They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple and the reception was in Provo at the "Legacy Home." His family owns the Legacy Home and it is a gorgeous property, so it worked out perfectly!

It was a bit stressful trying to get everything in order before people started showing up at the reception, but it all came together and I think it was marvelous :) The decorations were simple, but enough to catch the eye and not be too much. The pictures displayed all around were breathtaking, all my family was there (even the cardboard cutout of my missionary brother! haha), and my friends came to see me. They were honestly some of the happiest hours of my summer (by far!).

So yeah, Jenessa and Roland are beginning their happily ever after and it is so fun to see. They are so happy and I love both of them very much. Hopefully Roland's med school doesn't take them too far from home, because I would miss them terribly. They are awesome and I'm excited to see where life takes them :)

Aaaannnndd now there's only the E's left in the family. Emily and Eric, the single kids. haha I can't wait for Eric to get home in 6 weeks (EXACTLY) because then I won't be such an awkward loner in my immediate family! haha! Well, that's one of the reasons at least!

Conclusion? My sister is a HUGE example to me and I can't wait to be married in the temple to the love of my life someday, but I'm not in any rush either, if you know what I mean.

Come what may, and love it!

Let's Update This Ish

Well folks, my life has done a u-turn, some swerving, passed over a bridge, turned right, parallel parked, backed up into another car in the process, got going again, and is now on the winding road off to college (even though it's 5 mintues away). All this since I last posted.

My last post was about 6 months ago and I couldn't stop raving about how awesome and crazy life was. Well, it's changed a lot if you couldn't tell from my dumb car analogy. haha Quin and I dated till May23rd, when I broke it off. I haven't seen him since, which stinks, but is probably a good thing cause I've needed the time to get my head on straight. So he's long gone and in October will be going to the Dominican Republic on his mission, which will be so good for him!

So then I graduated from Timpview High School on May 29, 2013. It was awesome and I'm SO happy to be done with high school. The morning after graduation (after the all-night party), I went to FLORIDA! It was only for five days, but it was super fun! I went parasailing and chilled on the beach and we explored the everglades and saw alligators and had loads of fun. I wish it could've lasted longer! It was definitely the highlight of my summer. and it was the first week. haha just goes to show how this summer has been..

Anyway! This summer has been mostly me working. I worked at Zupas all summer and then beginning of July I got another job at BYU. It's in asset management and has it's pros and cons. haha pros? It pays really well, has great and flexible hours, I've been able to get to know campus a lot better than I ever would've without it, and I get to see some cool stuff every once in a while. Cons? it has some extremely boring days and I feel like my head is going to explode when I walk around in the sun too much. But hey, I really have nothing to complain about! At least I'm not washing dishes or something!
Last Saturday was my last day at Zupas, which was way sad. Just as I was getting to be best buds with my coworkers, I had to leave. Technically I could've stayed a week or two longer, but working 2 jobs for over a month just about killed me and I couldn't do it any longer. Plus I had to have some resemblance of time to pack and all that nonsense for school. But ya, it was SO SAD. Now I'll never get to see if the guy I was flirting with who worked with me actually liked me ;) hahaha jk. I'll just miss everyone and miss having a job that had a lot of variety and fun times involved. plus the 50% off food was fantastic as well! But oh well, it had to go unfortunately :/

This summer/year has been/is CRAZY for my family. All four kids have/are going through major things and changes and such. No I'm not talking puberty or anything, I'm talking about how Jenessa got married to Roland Wood July 23rd, I'm moving out and starting college in the next couple of weeks, Eric is coming home September 26th from his mission in St. Louis, Missouri, and Jarom and Aleena have a baby boy on the way that is due October 7th!! :) So many awesome things going on it's hard to keep track of it all.

I move out in less than two weeks and have barely done anything to prepare.. haha. I'm excited and nervous to move out, meet my roommates, and get on with my life. I am not excited at all for school to start though. I'm terrified of the huge work load and studying requirements and junk. Everyone tells me that if I work hard, I'll do great. They seem completely confident that I'll succeed and all that. I'm not quite as positive, but I'm going to do my best.

Live long and prosper. Don't die young and suffer.

Life update?

Here's an update on the main things going on in my life, just for fun!
-I recently got a job at cafe zupas in Provo. I love it most of the time and feel all grown up for having a job, but very young because I'm the only one in high school that works there. Haha also, with this new job comes a very busy and stressed Emily. I have very little time for my internship, schoolwork, friends, and family. But hey, I had to grow up sometime, right?
-I have some very big decisions coming up. Mainly: college. Where to go, where to live, what to study. Big issues. I'm clueless.
- I have amazing friends and an amazing boyfriend. I'm very blessed to have them. :)
-I have a ton to do for school and very little time to do it.. I just have to keep enduring to the end so I can graduate and be done with high school!
-overall? I'm very busy and stressed and wish there was more time in the day for my friends, boyfriend, and family. But I am still very grateful for all I have already :)
Life is good and moving fast. I've already been with Quin for just over a month! How did that happen?? I'm in shock but loving it. We may be compete opposites, but we're strangely good for each other. He recently got shoulder surgery, which sucks, but he's starting to get better and yesterday we hung out, not at his house for the first time since his surgery. It was great :) I'm kinda scared by how much I like him, but I'm really just trying to enjoy the ride. I mean, Yolo, right? Haha
Peace.

Quin and me. We're adorable.

V-Day what what

Valentines day.
So... I had a valentine this year. and his name is Quin. and I like him. a lot. :)
Yesterday was "the day of love" or whatever. haha so naturally I felt like I should do something for him, but I definitely had no time or resources to do so. In the end, I made him a plate of sugar cookies, decorated rather patriotically. (he loves America, let me tell ya!) It wasn't much, but I think he enjoyed them :)
What did he get me you ask? Oh, you know.. he MADE me a GIANT HEART PILLOW!! It has the minky fabric and is suuuupppeerrr soft and lovely to stroke. I love it!! :) He made it all by himself! (with a bit of help from his mother of course.)
Generally, the day of the valentine was a rather boring, slightly dismal day and I was thrilled to see Quin at the end of it and to get that very lush pillow and a kiss from my valentine definitely made the whole day a success.

Moral of the story? I have an awesome boyfriend and an awesome giant heart pillow. :)

A LOT

A lot can happen in a year. and a lot can happen in a month. and sometimes a lot can happen in a day. HOLY SNOT.
A year ago I had just lost my two best friends and was basically alone for a while.. now I have 2 amazing best friends and a couple other besties and many amazing people in my life.
A month ago I was livin the single life I've always been used to. But then I met Quin.. and now look at me! I have a full-on boyfriend that's best friends with my best friend. and my other best friend kinda feels left out a bit cause she's the third/fifth wheel, unfortunately. oh well! we still love her!
Yesterday I didn't have a job. but today I was hired at Cafe Zupas!!!! They are delicious. I am sososo excited to work there. I'm excited because 1-I finally have a job and won't be as completely dirt poor and 2-Zupas is one of my favorite restaurants! Win Win! I have to memorize the menu.. which might be a challenge, but I think I can get it done.
My life is going to continue to change throughout the next couple weeks as I start working and continue on the path of being in a relationship. I feel like my life is about to explode, honestly! I'm going to be extremely busy when I really start working and I'm not going to have time to do ANYTHING. but, welcome to the real world, princess!
So basically I just need to prepare to be doing something at all times.. goodbye nap time! :/ but! hello college money! :) Also, hopefully I will find out soon if I got into BYU! and hopefully soon I will be able to decide where to go and what to study! all in good time. I have to keep reminding myself that or else I'd probably detonate, which I'd like to avoid for now. WELP! that's all.yup.
